Holidays in Corniglia Cinque Terre Italy

http://watergeefjedoor.nl/393-csnl67095-buikslotermeer-amsterdam.html Corniglia, which is part of the municipality of Vernazza, is the central town of the five villages of Cinque Terre and has a population of less than 300 inhabitants.
It is located in an elevated position above the ocean, atop steep cliffs, and it is the only town in Cinque Terre without direct access to the sea.

rencontre gratuite à manosque The town of Corniglia is surrounded by evocative and traditional terraced fields (called “fasce” in the local dialect) where for centuries inhabitants have grown grapes and produced the typical local white wine, already renown in Roman times.

Uritsk The history of Corniglia dates back to Roman times; the name “Corniglia“ probably comes from “gens Cornelia”, one of the families controlling the area at that time.
During the Middle Ages the whole area came under the domination of the Earls of Lavagna, who were afterwards supplanted by the Fieschi Family.

The main road of Corniglia, around which the town is developed, is named after this family.
Via Fieschi leads from the parish church of Saint Peter to the panoramic terrace of Saint Mary and is the street on which our apartment “Stella Marina” is located, at Via Fieschi 33.

The parish church dedicated to Saint Peter, which dominates the main square of Corniglia, is a typical example of Ligurian Gothic style and dates back to the 14th Century.
It was built on the remains of a prior building (probably dating back to the 11th Century).
Not to miss are the celebrations of June 29th, in honor of Saint Peter, when you will be able to taste the specialties prepared by the women of the town.
Near the parish church the remains of the old sighting tower erected by the Genoese during the 16th Century are still visible.

From Saint Mary’s Terrace, reachable by Via Fieschi, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the sea from Manarola to the “Nostra Signora delle Grazie” Sanctuary in San Bernardino and beyond.
Near the terrace, you can visit the Oratory of Saint Catherine, a wonderful theatre stage among the houses.
From this part of the town it is possible to reach the Marina of Corniglia.

A challenging access to the town is the famous staircase “Lardarina”, starting from the railway station area, with 22 flights and 377 steps.
On the opposite side of the town, in the direction of Vernazza, you can see the famous pebbly beach of Guvano.
